EEFF 2024 - October 14: Indigenous Day

Gath & K'iyh - Gath and K’iyh is a poetic visual exploration of a community-led creative arts project aimed at better understanding and restoring our relationship with gath (king salmon) and k’iyh (birch) relatives as we navigate our feelings around climate change in Alaska. Gath and K’iyh are words from the Benhti Kokhut’ana Kenaga’ (Lower Tanana) dialect spoken in the Interior Region of Alaska. Guided by the voice and wisdom of Ahtna Elder Fred John, this film invites viewers to pause, to listen, to sing and dream together and ask how we might be in better relationship to the natural world around us. Kla-Mo-Ya Languages by Princess Mason* - Learn about The Klamath, Modoc, and Yahooskin Tribes (KLA-MO-YA) languages. A History of Native Music - A history and the evolution of native american music. Breath of Aloha* - Breath Of Aloha aims to spark interest and ignite curiosity to find out what is Aloha and reach beyond the shores of Hawaii to teach the world about the importance of Aloha. People know the word Aloha, however, many don’t yet understand the depth, meaning and responsibility to activate Aloha within their own lives. The practice of Aloha can raise the vibration in communities, countries and the world. Breath Of Aloha will immerse you into the daily lives of people living Aloha within the shores of the Hawaiian islands. The film also takes us on a journey up to the ancestral lands and waters of the Áak'w Kwáan clan of the Tlingit Tribe in Alaska during Polynesian voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa's launch of Moananuiākea: A Voyage for Earth. *Attending Filmmakers: Princess Mason (Kla-Mo-Ya Languages) and Sarah Betcher (Breath of Aloha) Community Partner: University of Oregon Action Event: Workshop on Aloha led by Filmmakers Sarah Betcher & Ryan Souza 3:30-5 @ Eugene Art House Description: The deeper meaning of Aloha and its transformational power to heal, give love, & show compassion. How Aloha can truly heal the world.DocumentaryPT1H10M2024-10-14EEFF 2024 - October 14: Indigenous Day"EEFF 2024 - October 14: Indigenous Day"EEFF
